The metro area which we know as Summerville started out as a small mill town west of Charleston and has seen impressive growth over the past 30 years. Located in two counties: Dorchester and Berkeley Counties, Summerville is an expanding city that we consider to be an integral part of the Charleston area. Berkeley County is one of the fastest growing counties in the entire country as large master planned communities have been fueled by a recent uptick in manufacturing jobs, and migration to the Charleston area. Some of those newer master planned communities such as Nexton, Carnes Crossroads, and Cane Bay are in Summerville’s 29486 zip code. Homes typically start in the high 200’s and go up to over 600k in these communities. In Summerville’s other two zip codes you’re going to find a nice mix of larger home developements, and smaller, older communities. Some notable ones are Wescott Plantation, Coosaw Creek Country Club, Legend Oaks Golf and Tennis Club, Summer’s Corner, McKewn, and Kings Grant, and many more. Prices can range from the low 100’s up to over 800k and there’s typically at least 300-400 homes for sale at any given time in the Summerville metro.
